#servicedesign #systemicdesign #journeymapping are the ideal tools to pinpoint how to leverage #AI

A lot of vendors sell LLM solutions as the great fix that your company needs, but the technology is often under-performing because its the wrong solution to your problem.

The deeper we get into the AI-powered era we're recognizing that stacking an OpenAI integration on top of your business and product will likely lead to very inconsistent and often incorrect results.

The AI products being sold and hyped up will work for broad, information-seeking and summarization tasks. They shouldn't be considered reliable and augmentative until the tools are perfectly mapped to how your team already delivers effective results. Enterprises have the advantage of building out complex implementations that pull in a range of data sets to power and focus the capabilities. For everyone else, making them effective is harder but there is a path forward.

AI-powered tools go from experimental to effective once they have situational context and a clear way to evaluate success. You have to use journey mapping techniques to map the current breakdowns and paths to success. You have to use service design to conceptualize new ways of delivering value across a system (varied inputs and outputs), and leverage user research to quantify the activities that positively and negatively impact value drivers.
